You're right it has been very quiet here lately.

Your old mate Beloved Monster hasn't been here for a long long time - he and you 2 disappeared at pretty much the same time.

I haven't seen it but well done for getting into that magazine. 'Tomorrow' looks interesting (not sure about the Michael Bay style typography though... tee hee)

I'm rather well, old boy. And I didn't really hate your films, I just saw a lot of ways in which they could be improved.

Congratulations of getting a feature into development, it's more than I've achieved so far. And you've got some hot chicks to act which is always a good start. I'm not sure about the teaser trailer and the Pan-atlantic accent on the v/o though. Doesn't really intrigue me I'm afraid.

Do you care to drop any more hints on what the story is about other than a guy struggling to make something of himself? I'd be quite interested to hear more about it.

Chance has mentioned something on the board before about selling yourself in posts etc. and I think this can be applied to your website. I don't think you really sell the film or the concept behind it. You obviously care about the whole package (ie DVD, posters, image etc) but I think you could do with beefing up some of the content. I'm left confused by the conflicting images on the site, the poster looks like a horror film, the trailer looks like a cliched psychological thriller/drama, the type looks like an M. Night Shyamalan film.

It's nice to be able to put a page about story, crew, cast but when there is nothing interesting content-wise people will leave the site fairly quickly. To be brutally honest I think the films you have made previously and this film aswell really smack of shallowness.

And again, I know you may say I'm unduly criticising you but I'm only telling you honestly what I think. If anything I think you are occasionally fall into the same trap that I myself am very wary of falling into. The trap of concentrating on the packaging instead of what's inside. My comments here, and about your films in the past, are to remind myself, if anything, not to do the same myself. I don't need to patronize you by saying you are obviously very talented and have a good array of skills and equipment at your disposal, but I think with a bit of, dare I say it, thought, you could make some really interesting films. Unfortunately I don't think this is going to be it.

Good luck though, I'll follow the site with interest. I hope you take my opinions as they are meant, to help.

Andy

yep, i'd be inclined to agree.

just from a cursory glance at the website(s):

http://www.ddpictures.com/
Slough and Eton School (4405kb)
Trailer for a production that documented a business day for Year 9 pupils.
without further explanation, i neither want to watch the actual clip nor indeed feel inclined to explore "the future of film NOW!"

IMO the web is a visual medium to a large extent. compare it to this

http://www.behindtomorrow.com/
Very soon extracts from 'First Light - The Making Of Tomorrow' will be available for viewing.
Showing us as we struggle through pre-production and including audition footage it will provide a revealing insight into this exciting project.

This is the place to come for updates and news regarding the project that has just started production. Production stills and news updates will hopefully be regular. Just keep checking.
unfortunately i won't keep checking because, to me, the website is very wordy and not very memorable.

also i'm from the school who believe the newest updates/diary entries should be at the top of the page ...

but, interesting. after all, it's the filmmaking and not website design that's really the important bit :-)

the old gang back together!

the trailer is a very old trailer, shot before we'd started production and since then alot has changed, in fact we are only just getting started on new publicity as we still have a few days left to shoot.

thanks for the feedback, website design isn't my speciality but its good to get the feedback so i can shift the focus. hopefully we will soon have our promotional material set out for 'Tomorrow'.

the www.ddpictures.com video contains a mixture of our corporate work so i wouldn't expect anyone to want to watch the school video. i don't even want to!

but please do check back on the site in about a month (i'll remind you!) cos by then i will hopefully have some proper time to get the website looking erotic

by the way andy, which poster was it? the one that has an image of a sunset and a quote at the top? cos that again is an old one, and really quite rubbish! removed it just now in fact!

and for more on the story (which has no guns, no stupid guy humming a tune or tuneless rappers!) we will hopefully have a better trailer out soon.

plus we had a god awful review on DVD reviewer, check it out!

Yes. It has been quiet lately.

I've been working as a lightning assistant on the set since last saturday. It's for a pretty big budgeted TV show (compared to other TV shows here) about lawyers and judges and shit. Working on the set has given me and is still giving me some neat experience. Nice contacts. And I now see working on television/movies is hard work. Fucking hard work. But it's nice. You just have no social life.
